Quick summary

The Nutritionist Pro platform is nutrition analysis and food labeling software. It has been on the market since 1982 and has been used by more than 1,000,000 users. Registered dietitians designed the product line.

There are three modules:

  • Food Labeling. An online (cloud) subscription for creating nutrition facts labels for the USA, Canada, the UK and EU, and China and Hong Kong.
  • Diet Analysis. Online or desktop software for diet recalls, client and patient management, nutrient goals, and educational reports.

How much does Nutritionist Pro cost?

Pricing depends on which module you need and whether you want the online subscription or the desktop software. Nutritionist Pro publishes all prices on its website. There are three pricing pages:

How much does the online subscription cost for all modules?

The online all-module limited-time bundle is a monthly subscription per user, with a lower monthly rate if you pay yearly. The price includes all regions. See the main pricing page for details. The all-module bundle includes Food labeling, Diet analysis, and Menu creation.

How much does the desktop software cost?

The desktop modules are an annual purchase, not a subscription. Prices are listed on the Diet Analysis pricing page, the Menu Creation pricing page, and together on the main pricing page.

How do I sign up for the online version?

To purchase the online application, go to the product catalog at https://app.nutritionistpro.com/shop/our-packages, then pick the online product and plan you want. After you complete your purchase, you’ll be taken to a login page, where you can log in and start using the application at https://app.nutritionistpro.com.

How do I purchase the desktop software?

You can purchase the desktop software from the product catalog at https://app.nutritionistpro.com/shop/our-packages. After you complete your purchase, you’ll be taken to a login page. The support team will also contact you to help you install and license your software.

How do I add more time to my online account or buy another plan?

Log in to your account at https://app.nutritionistpro.com, select the profile image in the top right, and then select Manage Accounts.

Can I cancel my online subscription?

Yes, and it is easy to do yourself. Log in at https://app.nutritionistpro.com, go to Manage Accounts by clicking your name in the top right corner, and select Subscriptions. There is a Cancel button there.

Is the online subscription a one-time payment or a recurring payment?

The online subscription plans are recurring. You are billed on the cycle you choose, so a 12-month plan is charged every 12 months. The desktop modules, Diet Analysis and Menu Creation, are an annual purchase instead.

Can we add multiple Nutritionist Pro users?

Yes. You can purchase any Nutritionist Pro application for multiple users. Add the quantity you need before you finalize your cart in the product catalog, and the additional users are added to your account.

Do you offer student pricing?

Yes. Axxya Systems offers discounts for students. See the student page, or contact the team, and they will help you. There are also options for colleges and universities.

Do you offer discounts or promotions?

How do I activate my desktop Nutritionist Pro account?

There are a few options for activating your account. Axxya Systems can email you an invoice. Contact the team, and they will be happy to help you activate your account.

How do I renew my desktop software and pay my invoice?

Renewals and invoices are handled through the Manage Accounts and Support Center page, where you can pay invoices and access your W-9. If you need an invoice sent, contact the team.

What payment methods do you accept and how is payment processed?

BlueSnap, a global payment processor, processes payments and is PCI Level I compliant. You can make purchases through the product catalog. If you need an invoice instead, contact the team.

Trials and demos

What demo and trial options do you offer?

Axxya Systems offers both desktop and online applications, and free trials for both. Start a free trial at https://trial.nutritionistpro.com/register-trial. The demo page lists the trial for each of the three modules, including the Diet Analysis trial and the Menu Creation trial. No credit card is required for the trial.

Do you offer a live demo?

Nutritionist Pro online

Which features are available for the online application?

The Nutritionist Pro online application includes three modules. What you can do depends on which modules your subscription includes.

Food Labeling module

  • Create nutrition facts food labels.
  • Build recipes and formulas and see the nutrient breakdown for each.
  • Generate menu labeling and other reports for recipes and formulas.
  • Work against nutrient guidelines for the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, and China and Hong Kong.
  • Create and manage your own custom ingredients alongside the Axxya Systems ingredient library.
  • Export and print labels as PNG, JPG, PDF, or SVG.
  • Evaluate and generate the Health Canada front-of-package “High in” nutrition symbol on Canadian labels.
  • Import a recipe from a document or pasted text and automatically match its ingredients.

Diet Analysis module

  • Build client records with contact details, demographics, and body measurements.
  • Set nutrient goals from the built-in DRI templates or create your own, with calorie needs from Harris-Benedict or Mifflin-St Jeor and an activity level.
  • Record what a client eats as a diet record of days, meals, and foods, or as a food questionnaire with daily, weekly, and monthly frequencies.
  • Analyze intake against a client’s goals, across a day range or a single meal, including exchanges and macronutrient percentages.
  • Record exercise sets and the energy expended.
  • Track weight over time, with projections against a chosen calorie intake.
  • Keep special notes on each client.
  • Organize clients into client groups and analyze a group the same way as an individual.
  • Cost out a client’s diet with food costing.
  • Produce client reports including diet record, nutrient analysis, nutrient deficiencies and excesses, exchange summary, Dietary Guidelines for Americans (2005, 2010, 2015 including Spanish, and 2020), food questionnaire, nutrient goal, exercise sets, weight management, special notes, and a client list.

Menu Creation module

  • Build a menu as a tree of days, meals, and the foods in each meal.
  • Save menus as reusable templates, and start from a library of ready-made Axxya Systems menu templates.
  • Generate a multi-week cycle menu with the Quick Menu wizard.
  • Offer a choice within a meal using select food sets, and set meal components, serving amounts, and the number served.
  • Copy and paste days and meals, reorder by dragging, and repeat an item every few days.
  • Organize templates by menu category and calorie level, and check a menu against a region’s allergen list.
  • Attach a menu to a client or client group, starting from a template.
  • Analyze a menu against a nutrient goal, across a day range or a single meal.
  • Produce menu reports including menu template, nutrient analysis, food profiling, nutrition summary, shopping list, food list, meals report, and critical control points.

Across all modules

What is the difference between Nutritionist Pro online and Nutritionist Pro desktop?

Nutritionist Pro online is a cloud subscription that runs in a web browser, is billed monthly, quarterly, or yearly, and covers food labeling and recipe work for the USA, Canada, the UK and EU, and China and Hong Kong. Nutritionist Pro desktop is installed software, purchased once, and includes the Diet Analysis and Menu Creation modules, as well as client and patient management. Is Nutritionist Pro compliant with accessibility regulations?

Yes. We added features specifically to make Nutritionist Pro accessible and compliant with government requirements. This includes WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the Accessible Canada Act, and provincial and state frameworks such as the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). What type of safety measures do you take to protect data?

Axxya Systems prioritizes safeguarding your data. The application servers follow PCI Level I compliance standards, and BlueSnap, a PCI Level I compliant global payment processor, handles payments. The privacy policy and the terms of use are on the website.

Does Nutritionist Pro use AI, and is my data used to train AI models?

Nutritionist Pro online includes an AI recipe import feature, currently in beta, that turns pasted recipe text or an uploaded recipe file into a recipe in the application. Text you paste into the AI recipe import is not used to train AI models. Nutritionist Pro also offers a read-only MCP server so AI assistants can read your own data. See the AI questions below.

What is the Nutritionist Pro MCP server?

The Nutritionist Pro MCP server, currently in beta, lets AI applications and coding agents read your Nutritionist Pro data through the Model Context Protocol. Once connected, an assistant such as Claude can answer questions about your foods, recipes, labels, and nutrients using your own account data, with no copying and pasting. The server is read-only by design: it can search and look up data, but it cannot create, edit, or delete foods, recipes, or labels, and it cannot change account settings. Nutritionist Pro desktop

What is the difference between the Menu Creation and Diet Analysis modules?

Both modules can analyze recipes and foods, create and build menus, and set nutrient goals to compare against menus or recipes. The main difference is that Diet Analysis also lets you manage clients and patients. Menu Creation details and Diet Analysis details are on the website. Both are $599 for a single computer.

Does Nutritionist Pro work on macOS?

Axxya Systems offers online and desktop options for some modules. The online application runs in a web browser on macOS with no installation. For desktop installations on macOS, you’ll need to take additional steps. Contact the support team for the details.

I bought a new computer. Can I install Nutritionist Pro on it?

Yes. You can move your desktop software installation from an older machine to a new computer. Create a ticket with the support team at https://nutritionistpro.com/nutritionist-pro-account-management-page/, and they will provide the details.

How do I download the latest version of Nutritionist Pro?

We send the latest version to the primary contact listed on each account. If you would like the primary contact changed, contact the team, and they can make that change.

Nutrition facts food labels

Does the government allow Nutritionist Pro to be used for label and recipe creation?

Yes. Nutritionist Pro creates labels for the USA, Canada, the UK and EU, and China and Hong Kong. For these labels, the government allows the food and food service industry to use an ingredient database and software such as Nutritionist Pro to calculate recipe data and food labels.

What is the difference between laboratory analysis and database analysis?

Nutritionist Pro uses a large custom database for nutrient analysis. Laboratory analysis and database analysis handle nutrient analysis differently, and government agencies do not require one over the other.

I am not sure how to start. I need food labels fast.

Make sure you know the yield of your recipe and your portion amount, and have your ingredients written out with weights or common household portions. Then start a free trial, build the recipe, and generate the label. The online application also has an AI recipe import feature that can create the recipe from pasted recipe text or an uploaded file. I am looking for the new FDA USA labels. Do you offer those?

Yes. The new FDA US labels are available in both the desktop and online options. Nutritionist Pro online is the recommended option. See the USA label designs and the online pricing.

I need the older FDA US labels. What are my options?

The older label designs are available as a desktop option. Contact the team, and they will send you an invoice for the older label designs.

I need to comply with USA menu labeling guidelines. Do you have any options for me?

Which label formats and designs are supported?

Nutritionist Pro supports multiple nutrition facts panel formats, including vertical, aggregate, dual column, and horizontal designs, in the languages for each region. You can download labels as PNG, JPG, PDF, or SVG.

How big is your food database?

The Axxya Systems nutrition team constantly updates and expands the database, which includes hundreds of thousands of foods and ingredients. You can also create your own custom ingredients with your own nutrient values.

Can I license the nutrient database for my own application?

Yes. Axxya Systems licenses its raw food and beverage nutrient database to mobile and web application developers, textbook publishers, and research groups.
