Completing a new menu

A menu is a listing of meals or foods to be served. Menus are used for planning what clients will eat. Use New Menu to create a menu. The New Menu screen is accessed from the Clients Menus tab.

Complete a New Menu for a client by following these steps:

  1. Click to add a new menu day. Menu days appear in sequential order (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, etc.).

You can also cut, copy, and paste information from another menu.

  1. Click . The Add Meal dialog box appears.

a. Select a meal and click . The meal appears under the new menu day.

b. Add additional meals as necessary.

c. Click to close the dialog box.

  1. Click or to Add Food or Add Select Food Set.
    • Add Food, The Add Food dialog box appears and allows you to search for an existing food to add to the menu.

a. Select a food from the search and click . A Properties dialog box appears. Complete the Properties dialog box.

b. Click the Add every (Days) checkbox and enter a number to repeat the food throughout the menu for a specific meal, if appropriate.

c. Click to close the Add Food dialog box. The food appears under the meal. The nutrients appear in the right pane if View/Nutrients is selected.

  • Select View/Normal if the nutrients do not appear in the right pane.
  • Add Select Food Set, a select food set appears under the meal.

a. Click . The Add Food dialog box appears.

b. Search for an existing food to add to the menu.

c. Select a food from the search and click . A Properties dialog box appears. Complete the Properties dialog box.

d. Add a second food to the food set.

e. Click to close the Add Food dialog box. The food appears under the meal. The nutrients appear in the right pane if View/Nutrients is selected.

  • Select View/Normal if the nutrients do not appear in the right pane.
  1. Select View/Nutrients from the menu bar to add or modify nutrients. The Select Nutrients dialog box appears.
  2. Select or modify meals as necessary.
  3. Select View from the menu bar to perform one of the following functions:
    • Select View/Analysis to view an analysis of nutrients and exchanges for the menu.
    • Select View/Profiling to view information about all foods in a menu or diet. Sort the list as desired.
  4. If appropriate, click on the New Menu toolbar to access the Properties dialog box for the New Menu to modify information.
  5. If appropriate, select the Food and click on the New Menu toolbar to access the Food Properties dialog box to modify information.

Modifying Food Properties changes the nutrient values.

  1. If appropriate, select Edit/Rename from the menu bar and type the new name to rename the menu and menu days.
  2. Click to save the information in the Clients editor, including the client's menu.
  • Select File/Save As to save the file under a new name.
