Importing and exporting
Importing and Exporting allows you to import and export the following items from one computer with Nutritionist Pro installed to another:
- custom foods
- custom menu templates
- custom client information
- custom client groups information
For example, you can import custom foods from your office computer to use on your home computer, or you can transfer data among your co-workers.
| If you are using the network version of Nutritionist Pro, you can import and export custom information between your PC and another PC outside the network with Nutritionist Pro installed. All network users have access to the files imported to your PC inside the network. | |

| Do not install the Nutritionist Pro software on the same computer for the server and the client. |
Importing
To import, follow these steps:
- Select File/Import from the menu bar. The Import dialog box appears.
- Use the dialog box to locate a file to import.
- Select the File name for the import file.
- Click
. The Review Custom Import Items dialog box appears. The dialog box contains an Import items list, an Existing items list, and an Item to import field:
- Import items, contains a list of custom elements used in the item being imported.
A custom import file can contain elements such as Basic Food, Manufacturer, Meal, Recipe, and Exercise.
- Existing items, contains a list of custom elements used in the import file that have already been defined in your database.
For example, if you have already defined a Manufacturer in your database that is listed in Import items, the Manufacturer appears in Existing items. The Manufacturer also appears in the Item to import field with no parentheses.
- Item to import, contains the item selected in the Import items list.
The item appears in parentheses if it is not already defined in your database and does not appear in the Existing items list.
- Decide whether to use the default method of importing, whether to change the item to something already defined in the database, or whether to allow the item to import as a duplicate item.
- The default method does not allow a duplicate item to be imported. If the name of the item appears in the Existing items list, is selected, and does not appear in parentheses, the item in the file will not be imported.
- To change an item appearing in the Existing items list that is not in parentheses to something already defined, click
to access the appropriate select dialog box.
For example, if the selected item to be imported is a Manufacturer, the Select Manufacturer dialog box appears; if the selected item is a Food, the Select Food dialog box appears.
Use the dialog box to select an item. The name in the Item to import field changes everywhere it is used in the file to the new selection.
- To import an item appearing in the Existing items list that is not in parentheses as a duplicate item, click
to import the item. The item appears twice in the database with the same name.
For example, if the selected item to be imported is in parentheses and is a Manufacturer named "Man1," there will be two Manufacturers named "Man1" in the database when the item is imported.
- Click
at any time to cancel the operation.
- Click
to perform the import. The Review Custom Import Items dialog box closes and the imported item appears in the application.
