Client groups

A client group describes several people at once. Use one when you are planning for a facility, a class, or any population where the analysis applies to the group rather than to one person.

Create a client group

  1. Click Client Groups in the sidebar, then Create Client Group. The first step opens, with the group's details above its nutrient goal.
  2. Enter a Name. This is the only required field.
  3. Describe the cohort: Number of Clients, Gender, an Age From and Age To with their units, and Pregnant or Lactating where they apply.
  4. Set the nutrient goal below the details, then click Continue.

The three steps

The client group wizard is shorter than the client wizard:

  1. Nutrient Goal, the goal the group's diets and menus are analyzed against. It works as it does for a client, except that there is no calorie needs calculation: a group has no formula or activity level, so pick a template or enter the values. See nutrient goals and calorie needs.
  2. Diets, diet records for the group. The editor is the same one described in using the diet editor.
  3. Menus, menus for the group. See client menus.

Click Save & Close on the last step. The Client Groups dashboard opens with the group in the recent list.

Diet records only

Client groups hold diet records. The New menu in the group's diet editor does not offer a food questionnaire, because a frequency questionnaire describes one person's habits.

Reopen and delete a group

Click Client Groups in the sidebar, then Edit Client Group to search for a group by name, or pick it from the recent list on the dashboard. Use the delete action on the row and confirm to remove a group and everything it holds.

Group reports

Click Client Groups in the sidebar, then PRINT Report, and open the reports for a group. The dialog has three tabs:

  • General: Diets and Menus, and Nutrient Goal
  • Diet Record: the same twenty-two diet reports available for a client
  • Menus: Menu Report, Nutrient Analysis, Nutrition Summary, Food Profiling, Shopping List, Food List, and Meals Report

The shopping list and food list are the ones that make a group worth using for facility planning, because they total across the group rather than for a single person.

For the full report descriptions, see client reports.

The desktop application has an equivalent feature. See Defining diets for client groups in Nutritionist Pro desktop.
