Exercise and weight management
Exercise sets and weight management are steps 3 and 6 of the client wizard. Together they turn a diet into a projection: what the client eats, what they burn, and where their weight is heading.
Exercise sets
An exercise set is a named group of activities over a date range, for example "Summer program" or "Post-surgery".
- On the Exercise Sets step, enter the client's Exercise Goals in the box at the top if you want to record them.
- Click New. An exercise set is added.
- Enter a Set Name, a Start Date, and an End Date. If the end date falls before the start date you are warned below the field.
- Choose a Data Source, Axxya Systems for the built-in exercise library or My Data for your own.
- Open Select Exercises and choose one or more activities. Each one is added to a table below with its METs value.
- For each exercise, enter how many times it is Performed, the Every interval (for example 1 week), and the For duration (for example 30 minutes).
Add your own activities under Tools > Exercises to see them under My Data.
You can add several sets to a client and drag them into order.
Measured weights
On the Weight Management step, click New Weight to add a row, then enter a Date and a Weight. Add a row each time the client is weighed. The weight history is what the Weight Management report charts.
The unit follows the measurement system set under OPTIONS on the Clients dashboard.
Caloric intake and expenditure
Below the weight table, two panels supply the two halves of the projection:
- Caloric Intake: choose Diet or Menu, select which of the client's diets or menus to use as the source, and enter the Daily Calories.
- Caloric Expenditure: the Nutrient Goal Calories field is filled from the client's goal. Choose an Exercise Set and enter its Daily Calories.
Weight projection
In the projection table, enter an Initial Weight and Initial Date, and a Target Weight. The Target Date and the Estimated Change are calculated from the difference between intake and expenditure, and the estimated change is expressed as a gain or loss per week.
This is the figure to walk a client through: it connects the diet you recorded and the exercise they do to a date by which the target is realistic.
