Editing nutrients for food labels
| Access to this screen is only available if you have purchased the Food Labeling option. | ||
|---|---|---|
The Nutrients tab contains fields that allow you to type in specific information when you create or customize Food Labels. When you open a Food Label, the fields will automatically be filled with nutrition information based on selections made in the General tab.
The number of nutrients that can be properly displayed on a food label varies depending on the type of label. For full vertical labels and other vertical labels, part of the label may be cut off. Some of the additional information, such as exchanges and ingredients, may appear on the second page of the printout, especially if options are chosen on the top section of the Food Labels screen.
To use the Nutrients tab after opening or adding a Food Label, complete the following steps:
- Modify the Value field by typing in the appropriate information for the necessary nutrients. When you type a value, an arrow appears next to the selected nutrient and the % Daily Value field is calculated.
Valid entries can consist of numbers, words, and symbols. For example, these are valid values: 1 Less than 1 <1
- If the Include summary statement check box is selected for appropriate labels, the In Summary column appears and a check appears for nutrients that will appear in the summary statement. This column can only be edited for nutrients that can be in the statement if the value or %DV for the nutrient can be declared as not significant.
- Modify the Percent Daily Values field by clicking the field and typing a value.
Click the Include Protein %DV check box to include the %DV for Protein in addition to its nutrient value.
- Modify the Voluntary Nutrients, if desired.
- Print the Nutrient Content Claims, if desired.
Click to return each modified value to its default.
To remove a Voluntary Nutrient from the Nutrients tab, click and clear it from the Modify Voluntary Nutrients dialog box.
