Specifying general food and recipe information

The General tab contains fields that allow you to type in specific information when you create foods, customize foods, or customize recipes. Click a field or area name in the following list to jump to its information.

  • Name
  • Classification
  • Common
  • Source
  • Generic
  • Manufacturer
  • Reference
  • Measure
  • Serving amount
  • Gram weight
  • Note
  • Unique

If you open a Axxya Systems food, the fields will automatically be filled with the appropriate information.

To use the General tab after opening or adding a food, complete the following steps:

  1. Type the name of the recipe or food in the Name field.
  2. Click next to the Classification field. The Select Food Classification dialog box appears.

a. Select the appropriate food classification from the list. Double-click a classification to open the subclassifications and select as appropriate.

b. Click . The classification appears in the field.

  • To remove a food classification, click .
  1. Select the Common check box to designate the source of the food as common. Common is an optional field.
  2. Complete the information in the Source area:

a. Select the Generic check box to label the food generic.

Select the Generic check box and the Manufacturer field is unavailable. Clear the Generic check box and the Manufacturer field is available.

b. Select the Manufacturer if available.

  • If the desired Manufacturer is not in the database, enter a new Manufacturer by selecting Tools/Manufacturer from the menu bar. The Modify Manufacturers dialog box appears.

c. Select the Reference from the list, if appropriate.

  1. Complete the information in the Measure area:

a. Type the Serving amount in the field and click the unit of measure from the list. These are required fields.

b. Type the Gram weight. This field is automatically calculated from the ingredients in a recipe.

c. The Note field is available for additional explanations, such as 1 slice of a 6 slice pizza.

  1. Type a Unique code, or part of the code, to identify the food. The Unique code can be used in the Food search. This is an optional field.
  2. Save changes. If the food is a Axxya Systems food, you will be prompted to make a custom copy of the food with your changes.
