Menu creation module introduction

Beta feature

The Menu creation module is in beta. Its sidebar items sit under a Beta heading, and the Menu Templates dashboard carries a short beta notice. Choose Send feedback from the profile menu to tell us what needs work.

The Menu creation module is the meal planning component of Nutritionist Pro online. Use it to build menus for restaurants, schools, hospitals, and other food service settings, to see nutrient values for every level of a menu, and to create reusable menu templates for your clients.

In the app, menus are managed as menu templates. A menu template is a complete menu that you can analyze, print, and reuse. For example, you can build Diabetic, Low Fat, or Low Sodium templates once, then apply them to individual clients or client groups.

A menu template is organized as a tree:

  • Menu, the top level, with optional start and end dates and a note.
  • Day, one entry per day of the menu. A cycle menu can hold as many days as you need.
  • Meal, such as Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner, added to a day.
  • Food, an ingredient or recipe added to a meal, with a serving amount and unit.

You can also add a Food Set, a named group of foods that you manage as one unit within a meal.

Where to find it​

Click Menu Templates in the sidebar to open the Menu Templates dashboard. The dashboard has cards for the main tasks:

Below the cards, the Recent Menu table lists your most recently updated templates with quick edit and delete actions.

Data sources​

Throughout the module you choose between two data sources:

  • Axxya Systems is the built-in library. It includes ready-made menu templates that you can view and duplicate, and standard meals and nutrient goal templates.
  • My Data is everything you have created yourself. Your own menu templates are always under My Data.
Can't find your templates?

Search screens default to the Axxya Systems data source. If a list looks empty, switch the Data Source option to My Data to see the templates you created.

Feature guide​

Not included in a free trial

A free trial of Nutritionist Pro online covers the Label module only. Menu creation needs a subscription that includes the Menu creation module, either on its own or as part of the all-modules plan.
