Creating menu templates
Menu templates are created with a three-step wizard: enter the template details, build the menu in the editor, then save. A progress bar at the top of the page shows which step you are on.
To generate a multi-week cycle menu in a single form instead, see Quick Menu.
Step 1: Enter the template details
- Click Menu Templates in the sidebar, then click Create Menu Template.
- Enter a Menu Template Name. This field is required.
- Under Nutrient Goal Template, choose a data source, Axxya Systems or My Data, then select a nutrient goal template from the dropdown. The goal template is required; it is what the menu's nutrient analysis is compared against.
- Optionally select a Category and a Calorie Level to classify the template.
- Optionally select a Region. When you choose a region, an Allergens section appears where you can check the allergens you want to track for that region.
- Click Continue. The template is created and the menu editor opens.
A nutrient goal template is required
You cannot continue past step 1 without selecting a nutrient goal template. If the My Data list is empty, create a nutrient goal template first or use one from Axxya Systems.
Step 2: Build the menu
Add days, meals, and foods to the menu tree, and analyze the nutrient content as you go. See Using the menu editor for the full editor reference. When the menu is complete, click Continue.
Step 3: Save
- Optionally click See Nutrient Profile to review the template's nutrient totals against the goal template. The profile lists each nutrient's name, unit, value, goal, percent of goal, and percent of daily value.
- Click Save & Close. The template is saved and you return to the Menu Templates dashboard.
You can reopen the template at any time from the list of menu templates to keep editing it.
