Adding new menu templates

Create a new menu template to add to the knowledge base by following these steps:

  1. Click on the navigation bar.
  2. Click on the navigation bar. The Menu Templates screen appears.
  3. Click the open arrow followed by Menu Template from the menu bar.

You can use standard keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + C (Copy), Ctrl + X (Cut), and Ctrl + V (paste). You can also cut, copy, and paste from another menu, diet, or template.

  1. Click . The New Menu Template Properties dialog box appears. Complete the Properties dialog box.
  2. Click to add a new menu day. Menu days appear in sequential order (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, etc.).
  3. Click . The Add Meal dialog box appears.

a. Select the meal (Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, etc.) and click . The meal appears under the new menu day.

b. Add additional meals as necessary.

c. Click to close the dialog box.

  1. Click or to Add Food or Add Select Food.
    • Add Food, The Add Food dialog box appears and allows you to search for an existing food to add to the menu template.

a. Select a food from the search and click . Complete the Properties dialog box.

b. Click the Add every (Days) checkbox and enter a number to repeat the food throughout the menu for a specific meal, if appropriate.

c. Click to close the Add Food dialog box. The food appears under the meal. The nutrients appear in the right pane if View/Nutrients is selected.

  • Add Select Food Set, a folder appears under the meal. Add foods as described in Add Food above to the folder for a select food set.
  1. To add or modify the selected nutrients, select View/Nutrients in the menu bar. The Select Nutrients dialog box appears. The nutrient selections appear with check boxes. Select nutrients as necessary.
  2. Select View from the menu bar to perform any of the following functions:
    • Select View/Normal to see details for the selected item.
    • Select View/Analysis to view or modify an analysis of nutrients from the menu.
    • Select View/Profiling to view information about all foods in a menu or diet. Sort the list as desired.
  3. If appropriate, select Edit/Rename from the menu bar and type the new name to rename the menu or menu days.
  4. Select File/Save As from the menu bar and type a new file name to save the template with a new name.
